Commissioning Ceremony of the Oguike Biomedical Engineering Building

Solomon Oguike Biomedical Engineering building was commissioned on 2nd February 2020. The N120 million 3 story building was built and donated to the University by Engr. Uzoma Anthony Oguike, an alumnus, who graduated from Mechanical Engineering Department in 1991. He is the Chief Executive of Future Concern Group.

Construction of the building was started in April 2019 and was completed in record time. Engineering Oguike had earlier completed several projects for the department of Mechanical Engineering including sanitation and solar power project.

Engr Oguike “giving back” initiative started in 2016 when he was invited for a mentoring lecture as guest speaker. He was appalled by the state of everything including the hall which was dilapidated and nothing was working including both ladies and gentlemen convenience rooms. There was no electricity so he was unable to deliver his presentation they way had envisaged. He latter commented that nothing was planned but he was responding to the urgent need to provide the student an opportunity to perform and become useful to the society.
